GSEU marks presence in the world's leading mineral exploration and mining convention

March 5, 2026

The Geological Service for Europe (GSEU) project took part in the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention in Toronto from 1-4 March 2026, the world’s largest event dedicated to mineral exploration and mining.

Throughout the event, GSEU helped bring a strong European geological perspective to the international stage. The project was showcased at the EU Booth, where the EuroGeoSurveys team presented key results already supporting improved geological knowledge and responsible mineral resource development in Europe. One highlight was the latest version of the new Map of Critical Raw Materials hard rock deposits of Europe (2024), displayed prominently at the booth. Julie Hollis, Secretary General of EuroGeoSurveys, also presented the project during a dedicated speaking slot.

GSEU also supported EuroGeoSurveys and the European Technology Platform on Sustainable Mineral Resources (ETP SMR) during the Europe-focused session titled “Unlocking Europe’s Mineral Raw Materials Potential: New Data, New Projects, New Opportunities.” The session highlighted European initiatives advancing geological data, innovation, and collaboration to strengthen the continent’s raw materials sector. A summary of the session is available for further information.

By engaging with industry leaders, policymakers, and researchers at PDAC, GSEU continues to strengthen international cooperation and promote Europe’s geological expertise on the global stage.

Carbon Capture and Storage is expanding as part of Europe's path to net zero. But storing CO₂ begins long before injection. It starts with understanding where suitable geological formations exist, how much CO₂ they can store, and how they can be monitored over time. Our GSEU pan-European CO₂ Stor...
