Strong GSEU presence at UNECE events during Raw Materials Week

November 27, 2025

GSEU and the European International Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Resource Management (ICE-SRM EU) were prominently represented at this year’s Raw Materials Week in Brussels.

At the UNECE-organised session “Advancing the Implementation of UNFC in Support of the EU CRMA” on 20 November 2025, Julie Hollis, Secretary General at EuroGeoSurveys, emphasised the importance of this collaboration network to ensure that Europe speaks with one voice on raw materials. GeoZS experts Dr. Meta Dobnikar and Dr. Slavko Solar followed with an overview of key ICE-SRM EU contributions to helping EU Member States implement CRMA and report using the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC). Their presentation highlighted the new ICE-SRM EU platform, the Train-the-Trainer Programme Roadmap, and ongoing work on harmonising national classifications, including guidance for National Exploration Programme results.

The discussions continued on 21 November with a technical deep dive: Dr. Slavko Solar explored UNFC application for national exploration programmes under CRMA, while Dr. Snježana Miletić presented the design and implementation of the GSEU ICE-SRM EU Train-the-Trainer programme.

The GSEU team thanks UNECE for the continued collaboration and is proud to contribute actively to more coherent, transparent and comparable mineral resource reporting across Europe.

Carbon Capture and Storage is expanding as part of Europe's path to net zero. But storing CO₂ begins long before injection. It starts with understanding where suitable geological formations exist, how much CO₂ they can store, and how they can be monitored over time. Our GSEU pan-European CO₂ Stor...
