Land Subsidence Workshop Brings Experts Together in Brussels

November 17, 2025

The “Land Subsidence in Europe: From Science to Management” workshop concluded with great success, bringing together experts from research, industry, and policy to discuss one of Europe’s increasingly urgent geological hazards - a challenge not only inland, but also critically affecting Europe’s coastal areas. The event provided a valuable platform to share the latest scientific insights, compare approaches, and strengthen collaboration across the community.

Hosted by the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences and the Geological Survey of Belgium, and co-sponsored by GSEU and EuroGeoSurveys, the workshop also received support from UNESCO.

A warm thank you to all participants and presenters for the lively discussions and contributions to this growing European community working to better understand and manage land subsidence.
