GSEU had a strong presence at the International Professional Geology Conference (IPGC) in Zaragoza early in November, contributing to discussions on Europe’s geological future and the role of geoscience in the energy transition.
Represented by Santiago Martín, Evelyng Peña, Ángel Prieto, and Margarita Sanabria from the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME-CSIC), GSEU was highlighted in the round table “The Future of Energy in the 21st Century”, and had active involvement in the session organised by IGME-CSIC “Building the Future European Geosciences: GSEU Project and EGDI Platform.” Our project was also featured through a dedicated presentation and poster, “The GSEU Project: The Key Role of a Geological Service for Europe’s Sustainable Future.”
During the three days of the conference, hands-on EGDI user tests attracted strong engagement, with 36 participants exploring the platform through mini-challenges related to raw materials and geoenergy. The majority confirmed that EGDI met their expectations, providing valuable feedback for ongoing development.
Our team’s active involvement at IPGC in Zaragoza is another step in our commitment to shaping a coherent, collaborative and future-ready geoscience framework for Europe. We thank the organisers, Spanish Official Association of Geologists, European Federation of Geologists, and Portuguese Association of Geologists, for the excellent opportunity to connect with peers and discuss our progress.
