At the EAGE Annual 2025 in Toulouse, France, GSEU hosted a well-attended Lunch and Learn panel discussion on The European Geological Data Infrastructure (EGDI) โ Europeโs Digital Twin. Held on 5 June, the session attracted 40 participants, mainly geoscientists and engineers from industry engaging with EGDI for the first time.
David Whitehead (GEUS), Kris Piessens (GSB), and Renata Barros (EGS) contributed to the session as panellists, presenting an overview of GSEU and EGDI, including a live demonstration of the new Pan-European Atlas of Sustainable GeoEnergy Capacities and engaging directly with the audience through interactive tools and a lively Q&A.
Key takeaways included the need for greater transparency around data coverage, versioning, and citation guidance, and the importance of positioning EGDI as a complementary, open framework alongside proprietary industry datasets.
GSEU looks forward to continued participation in EAGE activities and ongoing engagement with the energy industry. We thank EAGE for hosting an excellent conference!
