GSEU will be present at the 2026 GET Conference, hosting a dedicated workshop on the Pan-European Atlas of Sustainable Geo-Energy Capacities:
From Data to Decisions: Towards a Digital Twin of the European Subsurface
Sustainable Energy Theatre | 1:55 PM - 3:35 PM
A European Digital Twin of the Subsurface can only be as reliable as the geological data on which it is built. Harmonised, interoperable, pre-competitive geoscience data provide the common evidence base needed to reduce uncertainty, integrate knowledge across borders, and support applications including geothermal energy, carbon capture and storage, critical raw materials, groundwater, and subsurface planning. This session will explore how Europe's geological community is advancing the data infrastructures, standards, and collaborative frameworks needed to transform fragmented datasets into a shared digital representation of the subsurface. The session will examine how integrated geoscience can support better decisions, reduce uncertainty, and create the conditions for investment in Europe's energy transition and long-term resilience.
